The nation on Tuesday paid homage to martyrs who sacrificed their lives while defending Parliament House from a dastardly terror attack in 2001, as per the media reports.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Hamid Ansari and other Members of Parliament and leaders from different political parties paid floral tributes to the brave hearts at the plaque in Parliament House today.
On December 13, 2001, 5 heavily-armed gunmen stormed the Parliament complex and opened indiscriminate fire, killing 9 persons.
2 persons from the Parliament Security Service of the Rajya Sabha, 2 Delhi Police Personnel and a woman constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) laid down their lives while preventing the entry of terrorists inside the Parliament House Building. A gardener of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) also lost his life in the attack.
