On Vijay Diwas, Nation paid tributes to the bravehearts on Friday who laid down their lives during 1971 Indo-Pak war.
On the occasion, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the Indian Armed Forces and said, “Vijay Diwas is a fitting reminder of the valour and sacrifice of all those who fought courageously in the 1971 war. Tributes to them.”
The Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar along with the three Service chiefs also paid tributes to the bravehearts at Amar Jawan Jyoti, as per the media reports.
In 1971 war, on this day, the chief of the Pakistani forces had surrendered unconditionally to the allied forces consisting of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini led by General Jagjit Singh Aurora in Dhaka, said the ANI report.
The end of the war also resulted in subsequent secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.
