The Union Cabinet has approved two additional semiconductor manufacturing projects under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), involving a cumulative investment of over Rs 3,900 crore in Gujarat.

The approved projects include India’s first commercial Mini/Micro-LED display manufacturing facility based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology and a semiconductor packaging unit. Together, the projects are expected to generate employment for around 2,230 skilled professionals.

Crystal Matrix Limited will set up an integrated semiconductor fabrication and ATMP facility in Dholera for manufacturing Mini/Micro-LED display modules and GaN epitaxy wafers, catering to applications such as TVs, smartphones, XR glasses and automotive displays.

Meanwhile, Suchi Semicon Private Limited will establish an OSAT facility in Surat for producing discrete semiconductors used in automotive, industrial automation and consumer electronics sectors.

With these approvals, the total number of projects cleared under the India Semiconductor Mission has risen to 12, attracting cumulative investments of nearly Rs 1.64 lakh crore.
