The Income Tax Department announced that more than 5 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have been filed for the Assessment Year (AY) 2026–27 so far.
In a post on X, the department urged eligible taxpayers to submit ITR-1 and ITR-2 before the July 31 filing deadline, reminding taxpayers to avoid last-minute rush.
The department stated that over 5 crore ITRs have already been filed for the current assessment year, reflecting steady progress in the filing process.
