Net direct tax collections increased 23.09% year-on-year to over Rs 8.11 lakh crore between April 1 and August 10 of the current fiscal, reflecting a strong growth in tax revenues.
Net corporate tax collections rose 19.83% to around Rs 2.70 lakh crore, while non-corporate tax collections, including personal income tax, increased 23% to Rs 5.07 lakh crore.
Securities Transaction Tax (STT) collections also recorded strong growth, rising 51% to Rs 33,824 crore during the period.
Meanwhile, the government issued refunds worth Rs 1.43 lakh crore between April 1 and August 10, up 3.8% from the corresponding period a year earlier.
