Domestic passenger vehicle sales in India are estimated to have grown around 35 per cent year-on-year to nearly 4.5 lakh units in August, supported by strong performances from major automakers including Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Mahindra & Mahindra.
The auto industry continues to benefit from the impact of GST rate reductions, income-tax benefits and repo rate cuts, with automakers entering the upcoming festive season on a positive note.
Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Partho Banerjee said the industry’s August sales are expected to be around 4.5 lakh units, with a variation of 2,000–3,000 units, compared with approximately 3.3 lakh units in August last year.
