Indian benchmark indices, including the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note, tracking firm global cues reflected in GIFT Nifty trends.
Meanwhile, the GIFT Nifty is trading nearly 200 points higher around 24,094, signaling a strong start for domestic markets.
In the previous session (April 24), markets witnessed continued selling pressure for the third straight day, with the Nifty slipping below the 23,900 mark amid broad-based weakness, particularly led by IT stocks.
On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76664.21 down by -999.79 points or by -1.29 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23897.95 down by -275.1 points or by -1.14 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets rose on Monday morning after a report said that Iran submitted a proposal to the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi scaled fresh highs. The indices were trading 1.41 per cent and 1.94 per cent higher, respectively.
Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended 0.80 per cent and 1.61 per cent higher, respectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average settled 0.16 per cent down.
