Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Wednesday, recovering from the steep losses recorded in the previous session. The rally was led by banking stocks, while softer-than-expected US inflation data boosted investor sentiment by reinforcing expectations that the US Federal Reserve may take a less aggressive approach to monetary policy in the coming months.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 77185.43 up by 130.49 points or by 0.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24078.5 up by 26.45 points or by 0.11 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 77646.27 and intraday low of 76982.82 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24220.35 and intraday low of 24010.55
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 294.75,+3.08%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11810.35,+2.77%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1030.05,+1.50%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1021.50,+1.49%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5166.00,+1.09%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 280.90,-1.73%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3783.90,-1.69%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.25,-1.65%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1076.40,-1.41%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 344.15,-1.12%), among others.
