Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Monday, weighed down by heavy selling in banking heavyweights HDFC Bank and Axis Bank following concerns over margin pressure. Investor sentiment also remained cautious amid escalating US-Iran tensions, which added to the risk-off mood in the markets.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 77708.52 down by -442.93 points or by -0.57 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24238.5 down by -95.8 points or by -0.39 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 78151.45 and intraday low of 77368.29 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24266.1 and intraday low of 24135.85
