Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty climbed on Wednesday following a decline in crude oil prices and foreign fund inflows.
Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday kept key interest rates unchanged for the third time in a row as it weighed the impact of uncertain energy prices and supply disruptions caused by the ongoing West Asia crisis.
Announcing the third bi-monthly monetary policy for the current fiscal, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has unanimously decided to retain short-term lending rate or repo rate at 5.25 per cent with a neutral stance.
At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 78687.52 up by 258.57 points or by 0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24582.15 down by -32.75 points or by -0.13 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 79055.38 and intraday low of 78609.84 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24677.6 and intraday low of 24580.45
