Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a strong note on August 26, tracking the positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,534.50 in early trade.
The domestic market staged a recovery in the final hour of trading on August 25, with benchmark indices closing in positive territory despite a volatile session on the monthly expiry day. The Nifty ended firmly above the 24,300 mark, supported by gains across pharma, media and PSU banking stocks.
On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77656.09 up by 286.98 points or by 0.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24334.55 up by 115.5 points or by 0.48 %.
On the global front, most Asia-Pacific markets traded higher, though investors remained cautious ahead of Nvidia Corp's closely watched earnings and outlook, due later on Wednesday. Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced, while South Korea's Kospi and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.02 per cent and 0.95 per cent, respectively.
Overnight, US markets ended higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.30 per cent and the S&P 500 gaining 0.32 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite outperformed, closing 0.66 per cent higher.
