Sensex holds 36K amid volatility, Nifty on 10879; DCB Bank surge

Indian benchmark indices continued to hold steady during the late noon trading session. Sectoral gainers include automobiles, metals, and pharmaceuticals. The shares of Tube Investments of India, a DCB Bank advanced a percent on Monday after CRISIL upgraded its credit rating to AA-/Stable from A+/Stable for the Basel III Complaint Tier II bonds programme of Rs 150 crore by the bank. Cadila Healthcare shares gained 1.5 percent intraday Monday after Zydus received approval from the US health regulator for anti-acne drug.

At 14:17 hours, BSE SENSEX was trading at 36103.21 up by 26.49 points or by 0.07 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10878.65 up by 18.75 points or by 0.17 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36285.46 and intraday low of 36033.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10923.55 and intraday low of 10853.2.

The top gainers list of BSE Sensex starts with Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 524.60,+2.12%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 202.95,+1.78%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 431.40,+1.60%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 172.55,+1.02%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 92.85,+0.98%), among others. Shares that remained among top losers of the BSE Sensex were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 620.40,-0.78%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1967.95,-0.61%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 315.10,-0.35%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1814.00,-0.34%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 241.60,-0.31%).

BSE Metal index was at 11875.89 up by 203.26 points or by 1.74%. Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 166.25,+3.26%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 56.60,+3.19%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 306.20,+2.82%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 65.30,+2.75%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 524.60,+2.12%). In the meantime, FMCG index of BSE was at 11841.77 down by 5.93 points or by 0.05%. Lakshmi Energy & Foods Ltd. (Rs. 6.65,-4.86%), Parag Milk Foods Ltd. (Rs. 249.00,-1.48%), Marico Ltd. (Rs. 373.55,-1.20%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 11113.55,-1.09%), Kokuyo Camlin Ltd. (Rs. 108.75,-0.78%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2788 , shares advanced were 1582 while 1044 shares declined and 162 were unchanged.
