Sensex, Nifty regains; Asian Granito dips 13%

Indian benchmarks continued to gain strength this Monday afternoon session on D-Street. Optimism in global markets on growing prospects of a trade deal between the US and China got rubbed off on Indian market on Monday, helping equity benchmarks continue their winning streak for the fourth consecutive session. The shares of Asian Granito India slipped 13 per cent in intra-day trade after the company's promoter and managing director Mukeshbhai Patel was arrested by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Friday for a case related to an amount of Rs 35 million.

The 30-benchmark index at 13:19 PM was trading at 36095.46 up by 18.74 points or by 0.05 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10867.2 up by 7.3 points or by 0.07 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36285.46 and intraday low of 36033.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10923.55 and intraday low of 10853.2.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 524.65,+2.13%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 203.25,+1.93%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 430.35,+1.35%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2750.00,+0.98%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 172.25,+0.85%). The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 196.50,-0.63%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 314.45,-0.55%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1969.25,-0.55%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 622.00,-0.52%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1120.00,-0.52%).

Among sector indices BSE CDS index was at 20727.56 up by 175.19 points or by 0.85%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1395.30,+1.56%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 933.20,+1.16%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 555.80,+0.77%), VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 512.50,+0.74%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 225.70,+0.62%), while BSE Oil&Gas index was at 13743.14 down by -37.99 points or by -0.28%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 254.70,-0.70%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1120.00,-0.52%), Castrol India Ltd. (Rs. 151.55,-0.39%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 356.20,-0.38%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 149.90,-0.37%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2672 , shares advanced were 1458 while 1040 shares declined and 174 were unchanged.
