Indices trade in range, Nifty tests 10,740; PNB jumps 3%

The Indian benchmark indices continues to trade in the green in late noon session on Friday. Indices trading better amid a rout on Wall Street after Apple Inc cut its revenue forecast for the first time in nearly 12 years, blaming weaker iPhone sales in China. PSU Bank continued to outperform, up close to 3 percent led by Punjab National Bank,whereas reaching upto 2 per cent were State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank. Selective FMCG stocks were down led by Jubilant Foodworks, United Spirits and Godrej Consumer Products.

At 14:15 hours, BSE SENSEX was trading at 35544.94 up by 31.23 points or by 0.09 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10705.5 up by 33.25 points or by 0.31 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 35744.2 and intraday low of 35382.08 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10741.05 and intraday low of 10628.65.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 320.90,+2.47%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 169.50,+1.99%), State Bank of India (Rs. 295.80,+1.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 617.15,+1.51%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 90.50,+1.46%). The top losers of the BSE Sensex were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 931.40,-1.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1863.45,-1.74%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 657.80,-1.46%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1541.35,-1.14%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2980.40,-1.06%).

Sector wise, BSE Bankex index was at 30336.86 up by 183.56 points or by 0.61%. Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 93.90,+2.07%), State Bank of India (Rs. 295.80,+1.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 617.15,+1.51%), City Union Bank Ltd. (Rs. 194.55,+1.04%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 185.40,+0.82%). On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 6972.29 down by -75.74 points or by -1.07%. MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 808.10,-3.15%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 674.75,-2.36%), Cyient Ltd. (Rs. 606.60,-2.25%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 929.20,-1.99%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 931.40,-1.75%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2757 , shares advanced were 1278 while 1320 shares declined and 159 were unchanged.
