Sensex, Nifty trade in red; 5paisa Capital jumps 5%

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade in red late morning. A brush of red is visible among majority of sector, while defensives such as IT and pharma are trading in the green. The shares of 5paisa Capital locked in upper circuit for the eight straight trading days, up 5 per cent, surging more than 70% in the past nine days after the promoter increased stake in the company. The stock was trading at its highest level since August 30, 2018. FMCG shares were trading in the negative zone with the FMCG index down 0.09 per cent at 30,254.60 on Tuesday. The shares of Godrej Consumer Products (down 1.69 per cent), Britannia Industries (down 0.54 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 0.41 per cent) and ColgatePalmolive (India) (down 0.24 per cent) were trading in red.

At 11:20 hours, the BSE SENSEX was trading at 35841.46 down by -8.7 points or by -0.02 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10762.95 down by -8.85 points or by -0.08 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 35968.08 and intraday low of 35753.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10798.85 and intraday low of 10733.25.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 442.65,+2.93%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 178.55,+1.88%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 373.30,+1.58%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 95.30,+1.55%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 189.60,+1.42%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1232.65,-1.19%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 196.35,-1.03%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 723.50,-0.84%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2105.00,-0.71%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 633.00,-0.70%), among others.

Sectorally, BSE Auto index was at 19916.96 up by 25.89 points or by 0.13%. Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 20313.25,+2.47%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 178.55,+1.88%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2973.15,+0.47%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7366.00,+0.23%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 261.95,+0.15%). On the other hand, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 13481.6 down by -53.76 points or by -0.4%. GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 353.40,-1.06%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 352.75,-1.05%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 247.35,-0.64%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 272.00,-0.60%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1101.00,-0.22%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2242 , shares advanced were 1059 while 1049 shares declined and 134 were unchanged.
