Mid Session: Indices off high points, Eicher Motors climbs 2%

The Indian benchmark indices is trading in green since morning and has continued the trend till after noon on Wednesday. Banks, automobiles and pharmaceutical sectors are gaining the most. The shares of Eicher Motors climbed nearly 2 per cent in Wednesday's session after the management reassured the slowdown in sales was a temporary issue. Most metal shares were trading in the red in the Wednesday's afternoon trading session. The shares of Jindal Steel & Power was down 4.15 per cent.

At 12:20 hours, the BSE SENSEX was trading at 36143.44 up by 162.51 points or by 0.45 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10830.75 up by 28.6 points or by 0.26 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36250.54 and intraday low of 36108.23 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10870.4 and intraday low of 10829.1.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 662.50,+1.78%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 181.90,+1.42%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7507.00,+1.15%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 331.90,+0.93%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 676.00,+0.92%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 479.50,-2.41%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2946.55,-0.95%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 194.45,-0.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 939.90,-0.55%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1570.45,-0.45%), among others.

Among individual sectors, BSETECk index was at 7132.8 up by 42.58 points or by 0.6%. DB Corp Ltd. (Rs. 184.00,+8.43%), Jagran Prakashan Ltd. (Rs. 120.95,+5.86%), NIIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1161.55,+3.14%), Tejas Networks Ltd. (Rs. 218.45,+2.51%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 331.85,+1.84%). On the flip side, BSE Metal index was at 11127.99 down by -158.83 points or by -1.41%. NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 91.15,-4.00%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 151.95,-3.59%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 52.70,-3.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 479.50,-2.41%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 288.65,-1.74%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2489 , shares advanced were 1157 while 1195 shares declined and 137 were unchanged.
