Nifty above 10830, NIIT Technologies jumps 3%

The domestic equity indices continued to rise in late morning on Wednesday. Oil prices rose on Wednesday, extending gains from the previous session on hopes that Washington and Beijing can resolve a trade dispute that has triggered a global economic slowdown. IT shares were trading with gains with the IT index up 1.02 per cent at 14,430.70 on Wednesday. The shares of NIIT Technologies (up 3 per cent), Infosys (up 1.88 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.31 per cent) and Wipro (up 1.20 per cent).

At 11:14 hours, the BSE SENSEX was trading at 36154.95 up by 174.02 points or by 0.48 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10839.6 up by 37.45 points or by 0.35 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 36250.54 and intraday low of 36144.66 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10870.4 and intraday low of 10839.35.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 683.25,+2.00%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 662.00,+1.71%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1792.90,+1.26%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7498.00,+1.03%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1912.40,+1.02%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 478.55,-2.61%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2949.50,-0.85%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 937.55,-0.80%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 194.20,-0.77%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 190.90,-0.73%), among others.

Sectorally, BSE IT index was at 14206.13 up by 166.75 points or by 1.19%. 8K Miles Software Services Ltd. (Rs. 151.80,+4.98%), Take Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 149.30,+3.11%), NIIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1158.60,+2.88%), Quick Heal Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 211.00,+2.53%), Brightcom Group Ltd. (Rs. 2.75,+2.23%). On the flip side, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 13340.01 down by -172.19 points or by -1.27%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 240.70,-2.88%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 344.70,-2.85%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 342.95,-2.52%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 216.50,-1.57%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 132.35,-1.23%).

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2240 , shares advanced were 1093 while 1024 shares declined and 123 were unchanged.
