Indices trading red, PI Industries surges 9%

The Indian benchmark indices are trading negative in Tuesday morning session. The shares of PI Industries surged 9 per cent to Rs 914 per share on the BSE in early trade on Tuesday, after the company reported strong growth of 33 per cent in net profit at Rs 107 crore in December 2018 quarter (Q3FY19). The agrochemicals company had a profit of Rs 81 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenues during the quarter under review grew 32 per cent at Rs 708 crore against Rs 538 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal.

At 10:17 hours, the BSE SENSEX was trading at 36359.75 down by -35.28 points or by -0.1 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 10873.4 down by -15.4 points or by -0.14 per cent.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 223.05,+1.97%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 185.00,+1.54%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 174.65,+1.10%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 653.45,+1.04%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1451.85,+0.97%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2027.15,-1.86%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 747.60,-1.84%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2841.15,-1.45%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1062.00,-1.31%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 2622.80,-1.12%), among others.

Among sectors, Power index was at 1783.11 up by 10.57 points or by 0.6%. Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 3.55,+2.90%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 185.00,+1.54%), GMR Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 14.90,+1.36%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 238.65,+1.29%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 23.75,+1.28%),. On the flip side, BSETECk index was at 7618.91 down by -111.86 points or by -1.45%. Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 30.05,-3.06%), Bharti Infratel Ltd. (Rs. 314.05,-2.70%), Reliance Communications Ltd. (Rs. 5.20,-2.62%), Tejas Networks Ltd. (Rs. 147.20,-2.03%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2027.15,-1.86%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1946, shares advanced were 869 while 973 shares declined and 104 were unchanged.
