Post-Session: Market rises for 3rd day straight, Nifty above 9,500

The Indian stock market settled on a positive note for the third consecutive day with the Nifty50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closing over the 9,500 mark.

Initially a choppy trade was witnessed on Friday with both Sensex and Nifty opening on a negative note.

However, healthy buying in FMCG, oil & gas, metal and capital goods stocks supported the indices, analysts said.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 32424.1 up by 223.51 points or by 0.69 % and then NSE Nifty was at 9580.3 up by 90.2 points or by 0.95 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 32480.52 and intraday low of 31823.8 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9598.85 and intraday low of 9376.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 83.20,+5.52%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2712.05,+4.43%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 197.45,+3.62%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 475.45,+3.53%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 17575.00,+3.48%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 691.35,-2.25%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 383.20,-1.96%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 552.40,-1.83%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1971.55,-1.68%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 890.60,-1.02%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 1411.46 up by 60.75 points or by 4.5%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 157.15,+8.30%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 532.70,+8.14%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 686.80,+4.81%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 150.85,+4.68%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 1.61,+4.55%),.

TECk index was at 7222.49 down by -68.98 points or by -0.95%. Reliance Communications Ltd. (Rs. 0.79,-4.82%), Dish TV India Ltd. (Rs. 4.28,-4.04%), TV18 Broadcast Ltd. (Rs. 20.75,-3.71%), Jagran Prakashan Ltd. (Rs. 37.80,-3.69%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 691.35,-2.25%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2753 , shares advanced were 1542 while 1024 shares declined and 187 were unchanged.
