Sensex up 146 points amid volatility; Nifty above 9,500

The Indian markets were trading higher during the late noon trading session on Friday ahead of the release of GDP data for January-March quarter of 2019-20 (Q4FY20). The numbers, which are likely to come in post-market hours, are expected to show growth contracting with some analysts penciling in a 5 per cent dip.

At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 32346.99 up by 146.4 points or by 0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 9534.15 up by 44.05 points or by 0.46 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 32349.69 and intraday low of 31823.8 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9549.55 and intraday low of 9376.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 82.10,+4.12%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2696.60,+3.84%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 197.30,+3.54%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 17488.90,+2.98%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 926.20,+2.56%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 691.45,-2.23%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 550.45,-2.18%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 384.70,-1.57%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 1975.50,-1.48%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 434.80,-1.19%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 1388.84 up by 38.13 points or by 2.82%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 322.45,+5.17%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 152.50,+5.10%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 1.61,+4.55%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 678.95,+3.61%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 507.80,+3.09%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2626 , shares advanced were 1519 while 917 shares declined and 190 were unchanged.
