Post-Session: Sensex slips 323 pts amid weak global cues, Nifty ends at 11,516

Indian markets ended lower on Thursday amid weak global cues. Global markets slipped despite the US Federal Reserve saying it would keep interest rates near zero. Further, geopolitical tensions, too, weighed on the investor sentiment.

Shares of Happiest Minds Technologies (HMT) made a stellar debut at the bourses on Thursday as investors' money more-than-doubled after the stock ended at Rs 371, a 123 per cent higher against its issue price of Rs 166 per share on the bourses.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 38979.85 down by -323 points or by -0.82 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11516.1 down by -88.45 points or by -0.76 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 39234.81 and intraday low of 38926.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11587.2 and intraday low of 11498.5

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 808.00,+2.36%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1010.65,+0.96%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7109.00,+0.77%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 6006.60,-2.23%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 168.35,-2.07%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2460.05,-1.70%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 906.30,-1.70%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 368.90,-1.56%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 16465.01 up by 84.67 points or by 0.52%. Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 346.90,+9.64%), Ramco Systems Ltd. Realty index was at 1757.48 down by -33.46 points or by -1.87%. DLF Ltd. (Rs. 156.80,-4.04%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 58.80,-2.97%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 282.45,-2.79%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 406.70,-2.31%), Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 251.05,-1.24%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3139 , shares advanced were 1251 while 1691 shares declined and 197 were unchanged.
