Indices trade marginally up; IT stocks support

Domestic bourses pared most of the early gains but continued to trade marginally up hleped by some buying witnessed in stocks including Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd. among others.

The Indian rupee opened 18 paise higher at 73.47 per dollar on September 18 against the previous close at 73.65. The US dollar eased against its global peers after the US Fed signalled a prolonged low rate regime.

At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38979.85 down by -323 points or by -0.82 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11557.7 up by 41.6 points or by 0.36 %

Sensex touched intraday high of 39234.81 and intraday low of 38926.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11584.1 and intraday low of 11548

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 526.80,+2.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 648.90,+1.84%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 797.60,+1.35%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2033.25,+1.24%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 372.75,+1.04%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2090.65,-1.75%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 5947.70,-0.98%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1294.90,-0.80%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3001.50,-0.59%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7048.40,-0.52%), among others.

Among the sectors, IT index was at 16465.01 up by 84.67 points or by 0.52%. Zen Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 84.05,+5.33%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 378.05,+5.00%), AXISCADES Engineering Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 55.55,+4.91%), Kellton Tech Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 49.10,+4.69%), Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 207.60,+4.30%),.

Realty index was at 1757.48 down by -33.46 points or by -1.87%. Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 248.00,-1.16%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 261.30,-0.74%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 896.70,-0.70%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 58.70,-0.17%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2444 , shares advanced were 1305 while 981 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
