The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), has signed an agreement with Prantae Solutions Private Limited to support the manufacturing and commercialisation of “Proflo-U,” an indigenous point-of-care renal diagnostic platform.
The project aims to enable early detection and monitoring of kidney disease and pregnancy-related complications at the primary healthcare level, aligning with the government’s vision of strengthening affordable and accessible healthcare under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Proflo-U is a patented diagnostic platform designed to measure key biomarkers such as urine albumin, creatinine, and Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR), which are essential for early detection of chronic kidney disease and pregnancy complications like preeclampsia. The platform includes a nano-sensor based urine albumin test kit, a urine creatinine measurement kit, and a portable urine analyser equipped with Bluetooth, IoT connectivity, and AI-enabled mobile integration.
The device offers laboratory-grade accuracy while being suitable for point-of-care use, addressing limitations of conventional dipstick methods and the restricted availability of advanced laboratory testing in primary healthcare settings.
Under the agreement, Prantae Solutions will establish a manufacturing and commercialisation facility in Odisha to scale production and expand access to the technology across primary health centres, diagnostic networks, and antenatal care systems nationwide.
Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said the initiative reflects the board’s commitment to promoting indigenous diagnostic technologies and improving early disease detection. The founders of Prantae Solutions noted that TDB’s support will accelerate nationwide deployment of Proflo-U and strengthen their mission to deliver affordable, reliable, and technology-driven healthcare solutions in India.
