JSW Steel reported consolidated crude steel production of 23.66 lakh tonnes for February 2026, marking a 2% year-on-year decline compared to 24.07 lakh tonnes in the same month last year.
The company stated that production at its Indian operations stood at 23.06 lakh tonnes during the month, slightly lower on a yearly basis. The decline was primarily due to the shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at its Vijayanagar plant for capacity upgradation since September 2025. The shutdown led to a 1% year-on-year drop in crude steel production at the India operations level. However, excluding BF3 output from the previous year’s base, production volumes recorded an approximate 8% growth, driven by the full ramp-up of JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Limited (JVML) operations.
Capacity utilisation for Indian operations remained strong at around 97% excluding BF3 capacity, while it stood at 88% when including the idled furnace capacity.
Meanwhile, production at the company’s Ohio facility in the United States declined due to the gradual ramp-up following caster upgrades completed in January 2026, along with disruptions caused by severe winter storm conditions. JSW Steel USA – Ohio reported production of 0.60 lakh tonnes during the month compared to 0.75 lakh tonnes a year ago, reflecting a sharp decline.
Production Break-up (Lakh Tonnes):
• Indian Operations: 23.06 (vs 23.32 last year)
• JSW Steel USA – Ohio: 0.60 (vs 0.75 last year)
• Consolidated Production: 23.66 (vs 24.07 last year)
