The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) under the Digital India Corporation and NITI Aayog have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to collaborate on developing multilingual, voice-first AI solutions for inclusive governance and citizen-centric public services.
Under the partnership, BHASHINI’s multilingual AI ecosystem will be integrated with NITI Aayog’s digital platforms and services to provide government information and services in citizens’ preferred Indian languages. The initiative will also support stronger government-citizen communication and multilingual operations across public service delivery.
The collaboration will cover BHASHINI’s platforms and initiatives, including language translation APIs, reference applications, voice bots and specialised language models. The organisations will also work on integrating language technologies into digital platforms, document management systems and communication workflows.
The partnership will support the development of sector-specific AI solutions and linguistic datasets through BhashaDaan, while training and technical assistance will help expand the adoption of multilingual digital services across districts.
The initiative also builds on NITI Aayog’s NITI TARA platform and SMRITI system, which uses BHASHINI technology for automated meeting transcription and multilingual translation.
The collaboration aims to reduce language barriers, enable two-way communication between citizens and government, and make digital public services more accessible and inclusive across India.
