Benchmark Indian equity indices hit day's low in Sunday's special session after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman raised securities transaction tax (STT) on Futures and Options (F&O) trade in Union Budget 2026.

At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81336.39 down by -933.39 points or by -1.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25009.95 down by -310.7 points or by -1.23 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 82726.65 and intraday low of 79899.42 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25440.9 and intraday low of 24571.75

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1616.20,+1.33%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3139.45,+0.46%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 930.65,+0.14%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 1036.50,-3.81%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 433.00,-3.56%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1641.95,-3.10%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 312.95,-2.87%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 266.60,-2.59%), among others.
