Indian equity benchmarks closed Sunday's special trading session on a weak note, with investors trimming exposure after the Budget 2026 announcement increased the Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on futures and options (F&O) trades by 50–150%.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80722.94 down by -1546.84 points or by -1.88 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24825.45 down by -495.2 points or by -1.96 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 82726.65 and intraday low of 79899.42 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25440.9 and intraday low of 24571.75

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3185.15,+1.92%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1659.65,+1.17%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1610.20,+0.95%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3990.60,+0.33%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 1017.15,-5.61%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1339.20,-5.53%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 424.95,-5.36%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 309.60,-3.91%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.60,-3.88%), among others.
